Here’s a list of ideas, tools and resources to put into practice the idea of brotherhood as described in the book. The idea of making way for our brothers’ strengths, of giving space to our brothers.
- Start a little document on your pc/phone or paper notepad, where you recognize others’ good deeds, strengths etc.
- Allow other people to turn into your lane, turn across your lane or otherwise give way, literally, on the road.
- Be patient with others.
- When engaging in a debate, approach with the willingness to be convinced by the other side. If they’re right, then you’ve won by getting to the truth, or closer to it. If they’re wrong, then you’re strengthened in your convictions. And if there are some valid points to what they’re saying but you don’t accept all of it, then you’ve gained nuance and gotten closer to the truth again. (Pray that you don’t be convinced by false arguments. ) Via Rabbi Shmuel Za’afrani zt”l, quoting Rabbi Yonatan Aybeshutz a”h.
- Share your clothes, toys etc with siblings.
